Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actress is well known for her roles in film and television in the latter half of the 1980s. Her accolades are the two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was brought up by her aunt in Winston-Salem North Carolina. She was born and raised at home in New York New York. Bassett along with her mother and sister were moved from the city of Winston-Salem to St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was 5 years old. The father of the family had separated from their mom.
